Our History
The seed is planted
Key government reports were instrumental in the early years of the PCH Foundation and, subsequently, the development of Princeton Health & Fitness Center. After reading about the overall health of West Virginia residents in reports from the State Department of health and the Center for Disease Control in 1991, a group of concerned citizens decided to try and make a difference. These individuals were the Board Members and leaders of the PCH Foundation who made the commitment in 1992 to explore ways to improve the community's opportunity to become more health conscious.
Initiating a complete plan
While planning a course of action, the group concluded that whatever they planned had to be complete. It had to have something for all age groups. It had to be affordable for the individual, as well as a family, and it had to be inclusive for the community as a whole. Following the formation of the Princeton Health & Fitness Center, the next four years were focused on fund raising and education in the community. The area got behind the effort, and with the help of numerous contributors, the money was raised to begin construction. In September of 1997, one of the most complete fitness centers on the east coast was finally available to the residents of southern West Virginia.
Fruits of labors realized
Today, the Princeton Health & Fitness Center offers the community, through a variety of health and fitness programs, the opportunity to improve overall health, reduce the risk of injury and improve the quality of life. The modern facilities, state-of-the-art services, and quality programs will help you build The Foundation for Healthy Lifestyles.
